As many as five people, including BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi, were killed on Tuesday in a Naxal attack on a BJP convoy in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used by the Naxals in the attack. Gunfighting is said to be underway between security personnel and the naxals. Kerala Congress (M) chief KM Mani, former Kerala Finance Minister and the longest serving member of Kerala Legislative Assembly, died aged 86 on Tuesday after suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for 17 years. The Indian Air Force on Monday released radar images as proof to rebut Pakistan's claim that it didn't lose a US-manufactured F-16 fighter jet in February 27 aerial engagement. A military tribunal told him to first explore "internal remedies", reports said. Verma had approached the tribunal asking why he was overlooked as the next Navy Chief despite being the senior-most.
Pakistan has released 100 Indian prisoners as a "goodwill gesture", all of whom crossed over through the Attari-Wagah border. This comes after India called upon Pakistan to take steps for the repatriation and release of the prisoners lodged in jails despite the completion of their sentences. There are 537 Indian prisoners in Pakistani jails, 483 of whom are fishermen.
